About Our
Travel Writing Classes
“How do I become a travel writer?”
We both get asked that question a lot. (A LOT). So we thought, rather than keep our combined 30 years of newsroom experience a secret, why not share it with the world in a travel writing class? Better yet, why not share our advice AND the advice of all the best professionals in travel and lifestyle media?
Here’s what you need to know about our How to Be a Travel Writer offerings.

How to Find Your Lifestyle or Travel Beat

One-Off Classes
Not sure you need the entire suite of classes? That’s OK! Take just the one you think need. And if you want to take another, or end up wanting the entire suite after taking one class, just shoot us an email, and we’ll send you a discount code so you can experience it all without overspending.
But here’s the best part. It’s not just our advice. For each class, we’re also bringing in an industry expert to share their valuable insights. That way, you don’t have to just take our word for it.
What to Expect From Our Classes
What this class is:
The How to Be a Travel Writer course is exactly what you make of it. Take one class to brush up on a specific skill (like our digital writing, pitching editors, honing your beat, or building your social following classes), or take all eight classes in one to learn every little detail about becoming a travel and lifestyle writer.
What this class is not:
It is not a magic ticket. There isn’t a shortcut to success — it takes a lot of hard work to build a career in travel journalism. That said, there are skills you can master to give you a major leg up, and we’re here to share them. What you do with your newfound knowledge is up to you, but we love to see our students succeed and are here to help every step of the way!
What’s most important to us:
What we value above all is equity and inclusion in the community we are building with How to Be a Travel Writer. With that, we make sure to pay everyone who helped create this class for their time and effort. That means the guests in each class are paid and receive a portion of the profit, and the writers for our blog are paid as well. You should never work for free as a writer. We’d never expect our contributors to do so, either.
